[ General aims ]

Your child will be encouraged to learn through play and to be a sociable, inquisitive and fair-minded child.

You will find the club atmosphere relaxed and happy.

Children will be encouraged to accept and tolerate differences in age, ability, attitudes and cultures of other children within the club and in the wider world.

The club workers will aim to provide activities that contribute to the physical, social and emotional development of the children.

The club will provide a safe and secure place for the children who attend.

You can be sure that your child is being cared for in a setting which complies with all statutory requirements and in addition is working towards achieving recognition as a quality provision through the Aiming High award scheme.

You will find the club co-ordinator very willing to listen to your thoughts and ideas about the way the club operates and we welcome positive input.

[ Background ]

Superkids was set up by Terri Bourne, a qualified, experienced, practising teacher, when she identified the need for these clubs within the local area. With help from her husband Matthew Clark, also an experienced teacher, the first club opened in Sept 2001 in Wilmslow. The first day of term opened with five children attending, two of whom were Terri and Matthew's own! Since then the club has expanded and through NOF funding is now able to take up to twenty-four children every day.

Due to the success of this club and the demand from parents for this kind of service the company Superkids Ltd was set up in Sept 2002, solely to cater for the provision of out of school clubs throughout the area.

To assist the expansion, other members of staff have been introduced, either qualified or under training. Superkids attach a lot of importance to training. Terri herself, having worked on her own NVQ level 3 in Playwork, has qualified as an NVQ assessor, to understand better the requirements of the courses and to further the progress of Superkids staff and their training whilst obtaining qualification.
